An Oxygen Tube
Late last June a surgeon removed the top two lobes of my right lung: to stop cancer.
In the months since, at times shortage of breath has often called for a booster. There have been a few moments of semi-panic when I was gasping for breath and so welcomed the oxygen line, which could easily be plugged into my nostrils. The oxygen tube seemed like a lifeline, because normal breathing would quickly return with a few bursts of fresh air. . .
Today there are some lonely ministers or other Christian leaders out there who may feel like they are “gasping for air” too. And you might welcome an “oxygen assist.” Others of you may have found a rhythm, even a strategy or two, and for a season ‘refreshing from the presence of the Lord’. You are at one of those places in ministry where things are going well.

This can be a conduit through which the Holy Spirit breathes ‘fresh air’ into you at a season when your ‘heart is growing faint.’

It is interesting that the word often used for Spirit is wind or breath. Your life has been Spirit filled and you have allowed many of us to breath deeply and more freely because of your relationship with the Father and Son through the Spirit. Hang in there… together we are closer.

Thank you for the email; i hope your Oxygen Tube blog is a sign that your episodes of shortness of breath are fewer & farther between or, better yet, gone from your daily routine altogether. The loss of the breathe of life, momentarily or especially for a prolonged period, is one of the most frightening things we humans can go through. Years of nursing as well as personal health issues have left lasting impressions associated with this experience.
Your use of the nasal canula as an object lesson for the spiritual realm is a refreshing breathe of air. For it delivers not only “fresh air” but ‘pure’ oxygen as opposed to whatever the air of our environment may be mixed with. Surely a healthy intake of the Spirit is far better than a dose of anything else we could ever take in.

Dear Brother Lynn, I have just been asked by a friend in the UK if I could send him tapes of your messages. I have some you presented at 5th and Highland that I am sending him. Sermons you presented in the past, continue to encourage others. These tapes will be used in a small House church meeting near Godshill in the New Forest in SW England.
